This course is designed to provide learners with foundation knowledge and skills in clinical orthopaedics, with a focus on history taking, clinical examination and appropriate orthopaedic investigations. It also includes an introduction to the basic management of trauma. Advanced trauma care is covered in the Trauma course (PIOA004)
This course covers history taking, examination, arriving at a differential diagnosis and trains learners in the safe and cost effective ordering of appropriate investigations to aid in the management of orthopaedic conditions. The course also trains learners in the principles of closed management of appropriate fractures and in the appropriate use of external and internal fixation.
